Out Here tells the story of what you find Off Route; people doing real things – working with their hands, fixing things because they can, sitting together, loving without words, walking in the woods, listening. It’s more real out here than most realities. Out here connection has nothing to do with “likes” or “friend requests”. It’s where people still shake hands and sit on porch swings. Out Here gets back to our country’s roots, where the stories are weaved into every action and every pause.

The concept and production of Out Here launched Off Route in late 2017 when it became clear to us that urbanites and office-goers on a national scale had forgotten their roots. We felt that as a society, we’d become so entrenched in digital culture and in watching life happen on a screen, that we were being suffocated by our own disconnection. Truth was suddenly up for debate because we could no longer relate to it.

Out Here is a reminder that we need to shut everything down and get out of our comfort zone as often as possible so that we can witness the power of the people, places, and nature off the beaten path. Because therein lies the truth.
