Our next long-form documentary will dig deep into the layers of the Lowcountry through the eyes of fellow adventure travelers.
A Lowcountry Odyssey isn’t just a travel film. It’s a story about getting lost—in the best way—and finding something real in the process.
Most people come to the Lowcountry for its charm. The coastal cities of Charleston, Beaufort, and Savannah are wrapped in warm accents, live oaks, and a cuisine that reflects centuries of mixing cultures and tides. But for us, the real pull lies beyond the city limits.
It’s in the hush of the marsh. The stillness of an egret watching dolphins chase baitfish across a bay. The way history and ecology are stitched into the roots of old rice fields and maritime forests. This place whispers stories—layered, complicated, beautiful—and we’re here to listen.
We’ve come back time and again, drawn to its preserved wildness. The ACE Basin, St. Helena Island, Cape Romain, Botany Bay—each a reminder that conservation works, and that protected places can still feel untamed. That’s the message we want to carry forward.
A Lowcountry Odyssey is the first long-form documentary from Off Route. It follows adventurers and locals—riders, anglers, kayakers, birders, historians—as they explore the natural and cultural landscapes that make the Lowcountry so special. Around campfires and Lowcountry Boils, through saltwater and forest trails, we go looking for something deeper than a highlight reel.
This isn’t about showing off. It’s about showing up. About stepping off the expected path and paying attention.
Because the Lowcountry doesn’t hand itself over easily. But when it does, it changes you. And we believe that once you’ve seen it—really seen it—you can’t unsee it. And you won’t want to.
Off Route is an escape from Grind Culture. We’re an adventure media company driven to promote and enhance neo-nomadic lifestyles like vanlife, overlanding and adventure motorcycling, and in doing so, we champion land conservation, preservation, and responsible exploration. Through deep-diving into areas off the beaten path we aim to inspire adventure travelers to discover the unforeseen beauty and depth of a place, to live and travel more sustainably and ultimately, to be happier
